A “personal tutor” (abbreviated hereafter as PT) is a faculty member of the College who accepts some responsibility for a student’s academic progress. By virtue of their focus and regular contacts with tutees, PTs will be aware of the students’ academic achievements in the different modules. Therefore, they should identify in which areas/modules students need help and support.
Each master’s student in the department of Distance Education (DE) is assigned a PT upon entry to the programme. This PT will be alongside the student throughout the whole duration of his/her studies at the College. Having a PT means there is an academic staff member that students can turn to with any difficulties.
