ABE – Business Management

Why study the Business Management (BM) programme?

Successful organisations, whether large or small, are well managed. The development of management skills within an organisation is an essential part of continued business growth.

The Islamic College offers Business Management programme (BM), Financial Management and Management of Information System which is accredited by ABE. The four levels of the BM programme examine many areas of business and management, Financial Management and Management of Information System from marketing to economics and accounting. The Diploma in Business Management, Financial Management and Management of Information System starts at level 4, and enables you to progress through the Higher Diploma at level 5, up to the Graduate Diploma at level 6 (and (BM) beyond that to ABE’s level 7 Postgraduate Diploma), can also be taken through flexible study options, while studying in an Islamic environment.

Career opportunities

The positions below are examples of jobs currently held by ABE Business Management qualification holders. The list is not exhaustive since ABE qualifications are applicable to a wide range of vocations.

  • Diploma in BM – Marketing Assistant, Administration Assistant, or Accounts Assistant
  • Higher Diploma in BM – Marketing Executive, Management Trainee, or Secretary
  • Graduate Diploma in BM – Marketing Manager, Office Manager, or HRM Manager

Programme structure

The BM programme now comprises three pathways:

  • Business Management pathway
  • Business Management – Management of Information Systems pathway
  • Business Management – Financial Management pathway

Each of the pathways is split into three levels: Diploma, Higher Diploma and Graduate Diploma.

Diploma (Level 4)

Entry requirements

Open entry, and you must be competent in English (IELTS 5.0 minimum) and mathematics

Higher Diploma (Level 5)

  • Marketing Policy, Planning and Communication
  • Organisational Behaviour
  • Human Resource Management

Optional units (choose two units)

  • Principles of Business Law
  • Managerial AccountingEconomics for Business

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Development

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • Any ABE Level 4 Diploma or equivalent
  • Any Level 3 qualification or equivalent
  • 2 years’ relevant work experience

And you must be competent in English
(IELTS 5.0 minimum) and Mathematics

Graduate Diploma (Level 6)

  • Managing in Organisations
  • International Business Case Study

Optional units (choose two units)

  • Strategic Marketing Management

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • Any ABE Level 5 Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • A degree or equivalent and you must be competent in English and Mathematics
